With modern endoscopic methods, adenoid removal gives a lasting effect, and recurrences are rare — around 6% of cases, more often in very young children and with incomplete tissue removal. That is, when concomitant ENT pathology may affect the safety and success of dental treatment.

A link is likely if, against the background of diseased upper-jaw teeth, root-canal treatment, extraction or implantation, there appeared or worsened one-sided nasal congestion, pain and swelling in the maxillary sinus area, purulent or bloody discharge, reduced sense of smell or «pressing» pain in the cheek or under the eye — in such cases the ENT doctor and dentist should decide on tactics together.
